Head of School Searches

Head of School searches are the core business of Education Access Strategies, especially for medium and smaller schools.

More than forty schools and related non-profits nationwide have secured the help of EAS for their leadership searches- including more than twenty-five head of school, principal, or president searches. EAS has also assisted independent schools and other non-profits with searches for Executive Directors, Development Directors, Division Directors, Chief Administrative Officers, and more.

Dr. Jung has developed successful “Alternative Search Consultant Models” (Assisting, Coaching, and Conducting) to provide the highest quality national search assistance even for medium and smaller-sized schools.  He has also successfully teamed with Mary Kesler of the Education Group on head of school and division-level searches across the country, including in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Maryland, Washington, DC and Wisconsin.

Dr. Jung offers a distinctive, successful, and growingly popular “First One Hundred Day Plans” for new (first-time and experienced) Heads at schools he assists.  The primary reasons for developing these First One-Hundred Day Plans are simple.  First, first impressions count— a lot.  And second, the valuable information collected in the search process should be brought to bear not only on a successful search but a successful start.   These plans form a disciplined, agreed-upon framework for both the new Head and the Board, often using the 180 days between the date of the hire to the start date to devise a flexible plan for the first 100 days of the new Head’s tenure.

EAS maintains strong on-going working relations for Head searches and related assistance to schools with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) as well as a number of other national and regional organizations such as National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES), Friends Council on Education (FCE), the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), Independent Education (IE) (formerly AISGW), the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS), and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS).

Education Access Strategies’ successful “Alternative Search Models” and “First One Hundred Day Plans” have been featured at the National Association of Independent School’s annual conference and have been recognized and advanced by regional independent school associations.
