Life Rules for Board...
15 October 2006Four “Life Rules” form the core of the social curriculum at Beauvoir, The National Cathedral Elementary School (Washington, DC), where I’ve had the honor to be a parent for eight years and now a member of the governing board. Beauvoir believes that “all children can uphold the school’s Life Rules of being respectful, responsible, honest, and kind learners.” Yet these rules are not just for the children; the school also expects adults — and especially adult leaders — to live and model these values. In the realm of governance, these cornerstone character traits are certainly worth etching on the cornices of any boardroom.
