Landon's Lower School Head Appointed
06 January 2010David M. Armstrong, Headmaster of Landon, announced the appointment of Christopher Robertson as the new head of Landon’s Lower School. Chris currently serves as Director of Lower School at the Kentucky Country Day School, an independent, JK-12, co-educational school in Louisville. In this capacity, he leads a JK-4 division with 360 students.
Chris is a 1991 graduate of Hofstra University, with a BA in English and a minor in Secondary Education. He received his M.S. in Elementary Education from Queens College in 2004. Prior to his four years at Kentucky Country Day, he was a Lower School teacher and administrator for fourteen years at Friends Academy in Locust Valley, New York. He first taught third and fourth grades, then moved on to become the school’s K-5 science teacher and team leader for specials. He got his start in education when he was the Environmental Curriculum Specialist at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary in Oyster Bay, New York (1991-92).
This appointment follows a national search, chaired by Middle School Head, Doug Norry and assisted by Dr. Richard Jung of Education Access Strategies and Ms. Mary Kesler of the Education Group.
